What is Ofqual?
Ofqual is the Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulator. It is the government organisation that regulates all the exams, qualifications and assessments in England except for those provided by Universities. Ofqual also regulates vocational qualifications in Northern Ireland.
Ofqual is government funded but it is independent of political control with the aim of making qualifications free from political bias. It takes a risk-based approach to ensuring high standards are achieved with the greatest emphasis in areas of greatest importance.
Ofqual accredits organisations that provide qualifications through "Conditions of Regulation" All accredited organisations must comply with these conditions if their certificates are to carry the Ofqual logo.
